I'll never forget the day I noticed I was walking like my grandmother.
It was shortly after my 40th birthday.
When I got out of bed one morning and headed towards the bathroom, I felt this horrible ache in my big toe that radiated into my foot and through my ankles.
In my head, I wanted to walk smoothly across the bedroom, but all I could do was hobble with a limp. As the limping motion forced me to put more pressure on the right side of my body, I could feel that my knee was sore and stiff, too. Then I realized I was slightly hunched over because my lower back and hips were just as sore and stiff.
I felt old, defeated, and frustrated.
Now that I was worried about the fact that I was walking like an old lady, I started thinking about all the other health challenges my grandmother was facing.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease. She had already had two heart attacks and a stroke as well.
I started to panic thinking, “
If I'm walking like my grandmother, how long will it be before I'm suffering from the same chronic conditions and diseases as well?”
It wasn't long until I sought advice from my doctor.
He explained that I was showing all the early signs of
suffering from chronic inflammation.
He said that chronic inflammation is often the root cause of many serious health issues and that it's crucial to address it early to prevent further damage.
He and his medical colleagues had been referring to chronic inflammation as
“The Silent Killer”
for years.
Determined to understand more, I did a deep dive into the causes and effects of chronic inflammation. What I discovered was alarming and eye-opening.
